I’m Emily and I believe fun and the 5 senses are doorways to the deepest connection.

The resumé part of this story is that I studied connection for years. First in graduate school. Then in tech, where I designed and led large scale research studies to understand how people maintain connection with their closest others. I learned a lot of facts, like this one: a secret to staying connected for decades is to have fun and experience awe together. Easier said than done, right? Those facts were used to build some really cool stuff that you may use on a regular basis. Exciting work. But in hindsight my attitude was pretty (completely) self-serving.

The real-talk part of this story is that someone I loved, my own closest other for a time, died suddenly. In about 3 minutes, everything crashed down. Over the next days, months, and really, years I came to feel things that I had mostly read on paper. Here are a few:

  • Lost connection is debilitating. Emotionally, psychologically, physically.

  • Our whole life is lived in moments that slip away while we are too busy keeping up with ‘important things.’

  • Joy is critically important.

My sense of purpose shifted drastically and I started using my background to plan in-person experiences that help people connect by feeling something new together.

Why marriage? It is the most important connection many of us ever have on earth. Many of the marriage resources out there focus on conflict resolution through verbal means. There is a place for that! But there is also a place for greater thriving through experiences. Clients come to Love Storie to deepen their relationship, whether they are struggling or just craving new ways to deepen their connection. Because connection requires attention at every chapter.

I help my clients deepen the most important connection in their lives through their own flavor of fun and pinch myself at how fortunate I am to get to do this.

Why this spelling?

Storie comes from the french word estoire, and was used as the English spelling in medieval times–long before people used technology to connect. Love Storie dates are designed to be experienced in person, not through screens, because we are wired for our deepest connections to be built and maintained face-to-face.
